NCAA Signing Day - Class of 2018
Congratulations to Class of 2018 members; Madelyn Feyko, Margaret Merigold, Samantha Miller and Meghan Preisch.
These young women have contributed their skills, spirit and leadership to Mount St. Mary Academy’s athletic program and today they will be taking the next step in their athletic careers by signing National Letters of Intent.
Madelyn Feyko is a two-year member of the Mount St. Mary Academy Varsity Cheerleading team. In addition, she has competed nationally at the all-star level on a competitive Buffalo-based cheer team, which is the current Level 4.2 State Champion. Madelyn will participate in competitive cheer at Gannon University, a Division II school.
Margaret Merigold, a two-year varsity lacrosse player, played JV lacrosse as a sophomore and earned MVP honors in 2016. In 2017, the Thunder was Monsignor Martin League and playoff champions, and Margaret scored 18 goals, had four assists and 15 ground balls. A two-sport athlete, Margaret also played varsity and JV basketball. She will play lacrosse at D’Youville College, a Division III school.
Samantha Miller, a four-year lacrosse player, was named Monsignor Martin League Defensive MVP in 2017 as starting goalie during the team’s championship season. She averaged 6.3 goals against, 153 saves, and a 58% save percentage and was named team MIP. She played JV lacrosse in grades 9 and 10 and was team MVP in 2015. Samantha was a three-sport varsity athlete, also playing basketball and soccer. She will play lacrosse at Chatham Univeresity, a Division III school.
Megan Preisch is a four-year varsity soccer player, serving as team captain in grades 11 and 12. In 2017, she was starting goalie with an 81% save percentage, 154 saves, and 7 shutouts. Thunder soccer was Monsignor Martin B division champions in 2016 and Megan was team MIP. With Megan as starting goalie, the team had its best record in over a decade, averaged 1.5 goals against, 189 saves, and 8 shutouts. Megan will play soccer at Westminster College, a Division III school.
These four young women have been at the heart and soul of our athletic program, participating in every season and leading our Thunder to great success. We will miss you tremendously next year, but we know that you will accomplish great things. We hope that you bring to your new school the same dedication, determination and spirit that you have given to the Mount. We wish you all the very best of luck!
