Announcements and Important Events
A record-breaking Mount St. Mary Academy athlete just made history for the school’s lacrosse program. Senior Lois Garlow was named to the All-American Women’s Lacrosse list for the second year in a row.
Throughout Garlow’s high school lacrosse career, she has racked up a total of 269 goals (12 freshman year, 37 sophomore year in Utah). She scored her 100th career goal in a win over Nardin Academy last spring 2018. She was a major contributor in all League games, helping her team build a 12-0 season and Msgr. Martin League regular season title. In 2019 she continued to improve on her total and lead the lacrosse team to a 12-0 season again, and league championship and trip to the first ever girls lacrosse state competition.
During her two seasons at MSM, Garlow was named the Msgr. Martin League Defensive Player of the Year 2018 and Player of the Year 2019. She was a Msgr. Martin League First Team All-Catholic both years, as well as being chosen for the All-Western New York team and All-State team.
She has also been named the 2018 All-Bee Girls Lacrosse Team Player of the Year and a Channel 7 WKBW Super 7 Athlete of the Week. She received Prep Athlete of the Week for Basketball in 2019, where she became the school all-time scoring leader with 1088 points. Garlow has also been a Student-Athlete of the Week for lacrosse and basketball at MSM.
“She is definitely one of the top female athletes I’ve seen in my years working in athletics,” MSM Athletic Director Jim Pernick said. “She’s very humble and is definitely a team leader.”
Garlow has also been recognized for her success on the MSM basketball team in the winter, earning a spot on the All-Western New York team and the Top 25 Girls Basketball award for 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons from WNY Athletics. She finished her basketball career with 1088 points, 363 assists, 391 rebounds, and 267 steals.
The MSM lacrosse team has played in the finals every year for the past 16 years and holds 11 championships.
